canvas-design · Art Poster Design

Visual art design (from Anthropic's skills): a two-step process — first write a "design philosophy" (name an aesthetic movement for the piece, articulating its spatial, chromatic, and compositional language in 4–6 paragraphs), then express that philosophy as a single-page, highly finished .pdf or .png artwork.
Pure visual expression: information travels through space, form, color, and composition, with text as minimal accent only; the work is refined repeatedly toward museum-grade craftsmanship — nothing overlaps, nothing bleeds off the canvas, no flaws.
Example invocation: "Design an art poster for this theme."
Full brief
Positioning
canvas-design is an art-grade visual work generator: establish the aesthetic thesis first, then produce the finished piece. It makes "art objects," not decorated documents; output is only .md (the philosophy) and .pdf/.png (the artwork).
Core capabilities
- Design philosophy writing: names an aesthetic movement for the piece (e.g. "Brutalist Joy") and articulates its space, form, color, scale, composition, and visual hierarchy in 4–6 paragraphs — the creative brief for everything after.
- Pure visual expression: information is carried by space, form, color, and composition; text is minimal, a visual accent, never long paragraphs.
- Implicit thematic weaving: distills a subtle conceptual thread from the brief and works it into the piece (those who know will catch it, never announced outright).
- Craftsmanship pass: repeated refinement — no overlaps, nothing off-canvas, deliberate negative space — to exhibition-grade finish.
- Multi-page extension: additional pages in the same philosophy, bound into one PDF or multiple PNGs.
Workflow
- Write the design philosophy (.md): name the movement, articulate the aesthetic in 4–6 paragraphs
- Distill the theme's implicit conceptual thread
- Express the philosophy on canvas: single-page .pdf or .png
- Second refinement pass (purify, don't add)
- (Optional) extend to multiple pages under the same philosophy
Inputs & outputs
| Input | Notes |
|---|---|
| Theme / brief | Required — the original ask (inspiration, not a constraint on creative freedom) |
| Page count | Optional — single page by default |
Output: design philosophy .md + finished .pdf or .png.
Boundaries with adjacent skills
| Skill | Lane |
|---|---|
| canvas-design (this) | Art-grade visual works, aesthetic philosophy first |
| poster-hero and poster skills | Marketing posters, message delivery first |
| ai-image-gen | General AI image generation, no design philosophy or layout |
Fit
- Art-directed posters, covers, key visuals
- Exploring and expressing brand visual concepts
- Single-page pieces where design quality is the point
Before you start
- Prepare a one-line theme or brief; the more open, the more creative room.
- Deliverables are static finished files (.pdf/.png), not editable sources.
