skill-positioning-analysis · Differentiation Positioning

Differentiation positioning analysis: helps an account or brand find its differentiated position — scanning the niche, mapping competitors on a positioning grid, spotting whitespace, and finding differentiation across five dimensions (audience, scenario, value, format, persona) — ending in a one-line positioning statement plus implementation advice.
Positioning formula: the [category/role] that gives [audience] [unique value] in [scenario] — concrete, memorable, verifiable. The hard standard for differentiation: "different AND demanded AND sustainably deliverable by you" — all three required. Respects the account's current state, offering a differentiation path from existing strengths.
Example invocation: "Analyze this account's differentiation positioning."

Positioning
skill-positioning-analysis is a strategic analyzer for differentiation positioning: strategy-leaning, not data-teardown-leaning (competitor data and hit-content teardowns belong to skill-competitor-analysis).
Core capabilities
- Niche scan: pinpoints the sub-niche and mainstream players' common playbooks — what "everyone is doing."
- Competitor positioning grid: two genuinely distinguishing dimensions (e.g. expert ↔ entertaining / premium ↔ affordable / hardcore ↔ everyday) form a 2D map; competitors are placed to reveal clusters and whitespace.
- Whitespace spotting: finds "demand exists but supply doesn't" openings (audience/scenario/value/format gaps), excluding false whitespace (nobody does it because nobody wants it).
- Five differentiation dimensions: audience segment / usage scenario / core value / content format / persona style — points found per dimension, with 1–2 most sustainable and hardest-to-copy chosen as the lead differentiators.
- One-line positioning: formula-output, concrete, memorable, verifiable — no empty "better/more professional" claims.
- Implementation advice: how the positioning shows up in topics, style, visuals, and persona (differentiators must stay perceivable in content), plus signals for validating whether the positioning holds.
Workflow
- Niche scan (common playbooks)
- Competitor positioning grid (2D map; clusters vs. whitespace)
- Whitespace identification (excluding false whitespace)
- Multi-dimensional differentiation (five dimensions; pick 1–2 lead points)
- One-line positioning statement
- Implementation advice + risks
- Output: niche commonalities → grid → differentiation thesis → one-liner → advice → risks
Inputs & outputs
| Input | Notes |
|---|---|
| Own account | Required — niche, content, audience, strengths (read from profile when available) |
| Competitors/benchmarks | Recommended — 3–5 benchmark accounts and traits; inferred from niche knowledge and labeled as such when absent |
| Goal | Optional — intended direction (growth / sales / authority) |
Output: structured positioning report (one-liner + implementation advice + risks).

Fit
- Finding your edge in a homogenized niche
- Setting positioning before a cold-start launch
- Recalibrating positioning when growth stalls
Before you start
- Prepare your account's niche, content, audience, and strengths; competitor benchmarks help.
- Without a profile, provide niche + benchmarks + strengths first, or accept niche-knowledge inference (clearly labeled).
